Mutual Love and Respect

Do not allow your life to be ruled by compulsive desires

If a relationship is built on mutual love and respect, you will have to work on it day by day by considering the needs of your partner before your own. But if it is on lust and physical appearance, when the appearance goes, the relationship has to fall apart also.

The hand of that lady you hold and squeeze and lust after will after a few months feel clammy in your hands.

The way she shakes her waist which had captured your attention will now irritate you. The tendency to blame each other will begin to arise.

I want to tell you that you cannot build any relationship on the physical level. Let us assume that your relationship with Sarah has just been called off and you are now lusting after Mary and getting captivated by the way she shakes her waist — and there you go again!

Every desire is to satisfy a sensory organ and when it comes at the right time it is no problem, but at the wrong time, keep it stilled.

Human desire

What human beings want is unending joy, a delight that never fades away. But if you try to find this in worldly things which are physical and can change, expire, rut, then you have lost it all.

Lay up spiritual treasures in heaven where thieves cannot steal, cannot rut, and be corrupted.

So how do you go about doing this? Every day work to enrich the lives of those around you.

This brings joy that never ends, it is a spiritual inheritance. You cannot claim to store up treasures in heaven if you spend your time looking for personal prestige, profit, and pleasure — the three Ps.

I have known some millionaires and wealthy people in Nigeria who have indulged in all kinds of pleasure life has to offer — drinking, eating, smoking, and engaging in promiscuity.

When I asked them sincerely if they have found what they are looking for, they replied, “Bishop, honestly what we are looking for seems to have slipped through our fingers”.

The pleasure of sex has a tremendous force that has caused broken homes and unhappiness.

On the physical it brings two people together, on the spiritual level when you harness the energy you put into sex, it can bring you into union with God.

Sex is something that is meant to be sacred. It has a beautiful place in a loyal and loving relationship between husband and wife. It brings them closer.

Illicit sex on the other hand can disrupt the marriage. It does not even help us physically, psychologically, and spiritually.

The media is the promoter of our impulse to indulge in promiscuity. Lust too is not moralizing because here the relationship is based on physical level and appeal, which eventually fades.
